Digital village construction opens a new vista for fulfilling consumption capabilities and optimizing consumption patterns in rural areas. For this research, we used the microdata on rural households from the 2019 China Household Finance Survey(CHFS) to conduct an empirical examination of the impact of digital village construction on the upgrading of rural household consumption and its possible influence mechanisms in the endogenous switching regression(ESR) model. Our research findings can be summarized in three points. First, digital village construction has significantly contributed positive contributions to the improvements and upgrading of rural household consumption. Second, digital village construction can help upgrade rural household consumption by increasing their participation in online shopping and expanding online shopping channels. Third, digital village construction means different things to rural households at different levels of risk exposure, with its facilitation to consumption upgrades in proportion to income risks facing rural households. Our research findings, which came from an extensive, in-depth exploration of the factors influencing rural household consumption, are of practical significance and policy value to the stimulating and fulfilling of consumption potentials among rural households.

With the advancement of ecological conservation in China, the concept of green development has gained extensive acceptance and recognition. Exploring green development from the perspectives of environmental protection and sociology holds great theoretical value and practical significance in studying the issues related to green development. Firstly, this paper examines green development in light of the objective needs of the economic and social transformation in the international community and China, and deconstructed its underlying social logic. Secondly, it further investigates the social factors that restrict green development, encompassing social structures, social concepts, social systems, and social behaviors. Finally, within the framework of the “green” discipline system in environmental sociology, this paper proposes specific measures such as restructuring social systems and transforming production modes, lifestyles, and consumption patterns to promote green development.

Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels introduced the theory of spiritual communication in their influential work, The German Ideology, thereby establishing the Marxist perspective on communication. This theory has a distinct historical context, meaning, and significance. As society advances, driven by the proliferation of commodity-based economies and advancements in science and technology, humanity has entered the digital information age. The prevailing mode of communication in this era, centered around the Internet and big data, brings great convenience to society but also raises concerns about the potential alienation of both subjective and objective aspects of communication, as well as social relationships. Against this backdrop, the rethinking of Marx's communication theory in the 21st century provides a logical framework and theoretical basis for critiquing the contemporary form of spiritual communication through the digital communication of the information age.

The idea of cultural route heritage protection expands the protection theory for world cultural heritage. The Long March route carries the prominent characteristic of cultural route heritage. By actively building the Long March National Cultural Park, China has strengthened the overall protection and integrated utilization of the Long March cultural heritage, upgraded the hardware facilities for exhibition, and investigated ways to protect cultural route heritage with Chinese characteristics. During the construction of the Park, it is necessary to draw on the concept and norms of the cultural route heritage protection, optimize the construction approach, and make the construction of the Park more in line with the linear cultural characteristics of Long March heritage. Specifically, it is proposed to improve the Long March cultural route heritage protection system oriented towards “authenticity” protection, to deeply tap and interpret the prominent universal worth of the Long March route, augmenting the international dissemination of the Long March culture in an innovative way, and realizing a more scientific and effective protection and utilization of Long March cultural resources.

Interpretation(I) of the Supreme People's Court of Issues Concerning the Application of Law in the Trial of Labor Dispute Cases allows for the application of pertinent laws and regulations, including the Civil Code of the People's Republic of China(hereinafter referred to as the “Civil Code”), in labor dispute cases. This has resolved the controversy over the relationship between civil law and labor law in academic and practical communities. In view of this development, we examined four hundred judicial documents, analyzing the focal points of disputes, the reasoning behind judgments, applicable laws, and judgment results. Our study identified seven impacts of the Contract Book of the Civil Code on labor dispute trial practices, exploring the underlying logic behind these changes and proposing policy suggestions to promote consistent judgments across jurisdictions, enhance judicial credibility, and encourage employers to govern enterprises in compliance with the law while empowering employees to safeguard their rights in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.

Yang Wanli, a renowned poet of the Southern Song Dynasty(1127–1279 AD), has left an indelible mark on the history of Chinese literature with his unique artistic style. He pioneered the Chengzhai Poetic Style, a unique approach characterized by simplicity, naturalness, freshness, and liveliness in poetic creation. This style marked a turning point in the development of Song poetry and exerted a profound influence on the subsequent trends of Song poetry. As such, he was hailed as a “Leader in Poetry” by his contemporaries. The Chengzhai Poetic Style was gradually formed during Yang's creation course, under the influence of several important factors, including the Bashu culture and its aesthetic taste represented by Zhang Jun and Zhang Shi, the Zen philosophy that emphasizes liveliness prevailing in the Shu area, and the view that the “Chinese Yi-ology has its roots in the Shu area.” Meanwhile, in the Collected Works of Chengzhai(Chengzhai Ji), there are many poems and essays about the Bashu area, which have provided valuable feedback to the Bashu literature and enriched its content.

Lament of a Northwestern Woman(Qin Fu Yin), composed by Wei Zhuang after the Huangchao uprising, is a long poem that showcases the sufferings of the civilians and embodies the people's character of the poem, which is the profound empathy and compassion of the poet towards the civilians' plight. The poem was written during the reign of Emperor Xizong of the Tang Dynasty in the year Gengmao(883 AD). 2023 is also the year Gengmao, so this poem has existed for a remarkable 1140 years. For over a millennium, this long poem remained submerged in history until the opening of the Dunhuang Grottoes at the turn of the 20th century. The deep compassion and commiseration towards the underprivileged masses conveyed in this long poem are reminiscent of Du Fu's renowned “Three Poems of Separation.” Moreover, it is widely believed that this poem foretells the decline of the Tang Dynasty.

While people from Western countries do not always understand of the underlying cultural values of most Chinese stories, the Hua Mulan story has gained significant recognition from Western audiences. Therefore, it would be quite beneficial if we could understand the key elements that have contributed to the success of the Hua Mulan story so that we can employ similar elements in other intercultural communication programs and promote the communication and dissemination of cultures between China and the rest of the world. According to the findings from the interviews of 6,130 respondents from 107 countries, we found that the Hua Mulan story gains global acceptance because it represents a story of “a hero with a thousand faces,” which embodies the integration of Chinese traditions and contemporary spirit through sharing a global meaning while responding to various culturally common challenges. Five key cultural value dimensions are responsible for this Chinese story's cross-cultural affinity and influence, which helped it win recognition and empathy worldwide. The five key cultural value dimensions are loyalty and patriotism, the courage to take responsibility, compatibility of individualism and collectivism, respondence to the multicultural appeal, and hero growth. These dimensions are then generalized as the value identity orientation grounded in a Global Shared Meaning(GSM) in this study.

Adolescence is a pivotal moment in shaping one's character and holds great implications for one's values and personal growth. The Gift of the Magi by O. Henry portrays how an ordinary young couple in difficult financial circumstances managed to show their love for each other, eulogizing truth, goodness, and beauty in humanity. We conducted a thorough examination of the significance of moral values conveyed in The Gift of the Magi for teenager education using the “situation-emotion-symbol” model that is based on Randall Collins' theory of interaction ritual chains in order to establish an interaction ritual chain model for moral education of teenagers. Our study reveals that situated cognition is useful in constructing the focus of attention for the moral education of teenagers; that shared emotion is the driving force for achieving moral education of teenagers; and that symbolic connections help teenagers put the virtues they've learned from The Gift of the Magi into action and provides effective measures that can significantly contribute to the cultivation and implementation of moral education among teenagers.

Medical education is an important cornerstone for the development of healthcare, and medical humanities education, as an integral part of medical education, plays an irreplaceable role in cultivating people's health guardians with high medical ethics. We adopted the method of stratified random sampling to select 309 students and 107 faculty members from three independent medical colleges in Sichuan province as the research subjects and distributed questionnaire surveys investigating in three dimensions: overall cognition of medical humanities, evaluation of medical humanistic qualities, and the current situation of medical humanities education, supplemented by an in-depth literature review and interviews with subject matter experts. We found that “tech-centrism” still has a great influence, the self-evaluation of medical students' humanistic quality is generally not high, the educational concept of “emphasizing professional skills over morality” of faculty and staff is still quite prevalent, and there is still the “last mile” phenomenon in medical humanities education. In order to promote the integrated development of “new medicine” and “new liberal arts” and break the barriers of “tech-centrism” and “instrumental rationality,” it is necessary to change the educational concept and strengthen the education of all employees, break through the bottleneck of internships and strengthen the whole process of education, integrate educational resources and strengthen allround education, improve the incentive mechanisms, strengthen the assessment methods, and provide Chinese wisdom and Chinese solutions for the development of medical humanities education.
