  • Evolution and Characteristics of Traditional Wushu as a Combat Art

    Huang Xiaohua;Sichuan Conservatory of Music;

    During its interaction with modern sports, traditional Wushu has faced increasing doubts about its combat effectiveness, raising concerns about its cultural identity. How traditional Wushu is understood as a combat art not only helps define its cultural essence but also carries important implications for its long-term development. It is an objective fact that combat represents the practical manifestation of traditional Wushu in history. Combat reflects similarities among traditional Wushu forms that emerged throughout history. Combat reflects the historical law governing the evolution of traditional Wushu and represents an abstraction of repetitive phenomena in traditional Wushu. A correct understanding of this objectivity, these similarities, and this repeatability is conducive to promoting and carrying forward traditional Wushu, thereby facilitating an objective analysis of differences among different traditional Wushu forms and the discovery of their evolution paradigm. In the contemporary context, it is essential for traditional Wushu to emphasize its distinctive cultural roots, thereby facilitating creative transformation and innovative development.

  • The Historical Accumulation,Connotations,and Motivational Effects of the Spirit of Educators:A Dual Inquiry From the Perspectives of Educational Philosophy and Practical Logic

    Li Jian;Miao Weiwei;Sichuan Normal University;

    Drawing on educational philosophy and practical logic, this study systematically examines the historical lineage, theoretical essence, and practical mechanisms through which the spirit of educators empowers the modernization of education. Developed by Chinese educators over the long course of their teaching practice, this spirit constitutes a stable set of values centered on fostering virtue through education along with the integration of patriotism, professional ethics, educational wisdom, and dedicated practice. Distinct from the “teacher's moral spirit,” which emphasizes traditional ethical norms, the spirit of educators is contemporary, original, and pioneering. Against the backdrop of digital transformation and building China into a leading country in education, the “uphold fundamental principles and break new ground” dimension of the spirit of educators requires not only a firm commitment to the essence of “fostering virtue through education” but also activating the full potential of technological innovation, which thereby offers both theoretical paradigms and practical pathways for constructing an educational system of educators' spirit with Chinese characteristics.

  • Research on the Mechanisms and Effects of Digital Literacy in Empowering Farmers' Common Prosperity

    Based on micro-survey data from 894 farmers in Sichuan Province, this study employs the Ordinary Least Squares(OLS), Two-Stage Least Squares(2 SLS), mediating effect, and moderating effect models to comprehensively analyze the mechanisms and effects of digital literacy in empowering farmers' common prosperity. Endogeneity and robustness are addressed using the Sobel test, the Bootstrap, and moderating effect plots. The findings indicate that first, after controlling for variables such as age, gender, and planting years, digital literacy significantly and positively influences the common prosperity of farmers at the 5% level; second, enhanced digital literacy promotes higher levels of technology adoption and information accumulation among farmers, thereby increasing the probability of achieving common prosperity. The mediating effects of technology adoption and information sharing account for 21.10% and 33.94% of the total effect, respectively; and third, the information environment and financial empowerment play positive moderation roles in the effect of digital literacy on farmers' common prosperity, with the moderation effects significant at the 1% and 10% levels, respectively. Therefore, we recommend policies that enhance the access of farmers to digital literacy training, strengthen rural digital infrastructure, establish integrated rural informationsharing platforms, and create an enabling environment for the adoption of digital technologies.

  • Evaluation of the Influence of the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle as an Economic Center and Enhancement Strategies: An Empirical Analysis Based on SDID and Entropy-Weighted TOPSIS

    Zhou Dong;Southwest Jiaotong University;Sichuan Academy of Social Sciences;

    This paper focuses on Chengdu and Chongqing's positioning as important economic center in western China and their evolving into an economic center of national influence. On the one hand, it uses the synthetic difference-in-differences(SDID) method to analyze the impact of policies since 2011 designed to build Chengdu and Chongqing into an important economic center in western China. On the other hand, it employs the entropy-weighted TOPSIS method to comprehensively evaluate the influences of ten core Chinese cities as economic centers within four major urban agglomerations, as well as conduct an analytical assessment of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle from key perspectives such as its capacity to lead, capacity to agglomerate, and capacity to radiate. From a longitudinal historical perspective, both Chengdu and Chongqing have benefited significantly from policies designed to build an important economic center in western China, and which laid a foundation for building an economic center of national influence. From a horizontal regional comparison, among the ten core cities evaluated as economic centers within the four major urban agglomerations, Chengdu and Chongqing ranked in the middle, possessing a moderate but not yet outstanding influence. Consequently, to evolve into an economic center of national influence, the ChengduChongqing economic circle should leverage its relative advantages in connectivity, market size, value chain division of labor, policy attractiveness, and industry development. It can enhance its influence by strengthening the complementarity of its economic resources, overcoming the administrative inertia, accelerating the establishment of a regional innovation system, broadening the scope of its economic radiation, and promoting its comprehensive and all-dimensional opening-up.

  • New Insights into China's Regional Tourism Sustainability:A Driving-Forces Perspective

    Sun Genjin;Liu Jinyi;Sichuan Agricultural University;Ocean University of China;

    Sustainable development, underpinned by robust systemic driving forces, is central to the growth of high-quality tourism. Therefore, identifying these forces at the regional level is crucial for advancing China's goal of becoming a leading nation for tourism. This study accordingly constructs a new evaluation system that covers tourism market demand, industry supply, and structural transformation, and analyzes data from 31 Chinese provincial regions(2010–2019). The entropy method and spatial autocorrelation analysis were applied to examine the driving forces for sustainable regional tourism development. The results revealed that:First, at the national level, the driving forces for sustainable regional tourism development exhibited a clear upward trend from 2010 to 2019, with an acceleration in growth after 2015. However, there was significant regional heterogeneity: The eastern region displayed the highest levels of driving forces, followed by the central and western regions. Second, high-value clusters of these driving forces expanded from the eastern to the western regions, while the central provinces remained relatively balanced. Specifically, provincial regions such as Guangdong, Beijing, and Zhejiang were able to successively enter the high-value clusters, whereas the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, Gansu, and Qinghai consistently remained in the low-value clusters. Third, the driving forces exhibited a significant spatial agglomeration effect. The degree of clustering followed an inverted “U” trend over the study period, while the spatial patterns of the provincial regions remained relatively stable.

  • How Does Digital Trade Development Influence Export Sophistication:Empirical Evidence From the Panel Data of Chinese Cities

    Duan Dingyun;Feng Zongxian;Xi'an Jiaotong University;

    This paper employs the entropy method to measure the development level of digital trade across 282 prefecture-level cities in China from 2011 to 2022 and empirically investigates the impact of this digital trade development on export sophistication and the underlying mechanisms used. The results show that digital trade development significantly enhances export sophistication. Mechanism analysis suggests that this effect is primarily realized through the optimization of industrial structures and the enhancement of technological innovation capabilities. Further heterogeneity analysis reveals that the impact of digital trade development on export sophistication varies depending on geographical location, inclusion in urban agglomerations, and coastal status. These findings underscore the importance of comprehensively promoting digital trade development, fostering technological progress and innovation, and continuously upgrading industrial structures to provide new pathways for enhancing export sophistication.

  • The Fundamental Construction and Social Development of China's Network Society

    Xie Jungui;Guangzhou University;

    The idea of a network society was introduced by Western sociologists at the end of the 20th century after in-depth research was conducted from perspectives such as informationalism.Influenced by these developments,the concept of constructing a network society also emerged in China.Over the past 30 years,China has made significant progress and achievements in constructing a network society,both in terms of its fundamental construction and social development.It is important that these advancements be summarized and reviewed.China's network society construction can be divided into two relatively independent yet interconnected components,based on their focal points:its foundational infrastructure and its social development.These two components of China's network society are managed by different departments.China has integrated the fundamental construction of its network society with the social development of its network society,thereby achieving unified planning,collaborative advancement,and coordinated development.This approach aims to harmonize two aspects:building China's cyberspace strength and contributing to Chinese informatization,thereby advancing Chinese modernization.

  • Research on the Effect of Age on Intergenerational Economic Support for the Rural Elderly

    Hu Shiyong;Qiao Bolun;Zhang Xiaoxiao;Wuhan University of Technology;

    Based on two waves of CHARLS data, this paper uses descriptive statistics and a binary logistic regression estimation model to analyze the effect of age on the intergenerational economic support for the rural elderly within the framework of three-generation lineal group families. The study found that the diffusion effect of age on the intergenerational economic support for the rural elderly still existed when using a five-year age group model as the measure. In the distribution of intergenerational economic support for the rural elderly by age group, there was a notable decline in economic support from the filial generation for those aged 85 and above. For the age group of 85 and above, it was the grandchild generation that gradually increased its economic support, the result of a form of intergenerational relay for the care of the elderly. Comparison of the two waves of data reveals that familism still exhibits a strong resilience and is behind the intergenerational cooperation in Chinese rural families. The culture of filial piety and respect for elders, which reflects China’s national characteristics as well as contemporary values, should continue to be promoted. To achieve this, it is necessary to maintain the supportive function of family-based care for the rural elderly through family-friendly policies and the systematic improvement of the current multi-tiered policies for the care of the rural elderly.
