  • On the Purport of Writing the Cultural History of Migration in Bashu

    Chen Shisong;Sichuan Academy of Social Sciences;

    The emergence of the Bashu region as the center of ancient civilization in the upper Yangtze River and southwest China was not a historical accident.It exemplifies the principle that“geography and people are mutually dependent.”The driving force behind a region’s cultural innovation stems primarily from the mobility of the population and the ensuing cultural interactions.The Bashu regional culture,through the interplay between humans and their environment,continuously assimilates elements from other civilizations,which enables it to sustain its enduring vitality and innovation.

  • The Decline and Reinvention of Marketplace Culture:Civic Social Networks in the Spatial Transformation of Chengdu Teahouses

    Ding Ding;Wang Hao;Xihua University;

    Chengdu teahouses,as core public spaces in marketplace society,have undergone transformative reconstruction—from“containers of everyday life”to“containers of commercial traffic and digital flows”—during the process of modernization.Employing spatial archaeology as a methodology,combined with fieldwork and analysis of historical documents,this study systematically examines the diachronic evolution of architectural forms,functional orientations,and social networks within Chengdu teahouses.The study reveals the logic of spatial reconstruction under the interplay of multiple forces,including cultural heritage preservation,capital-driven development,and technological intervention.The findings identify three paradigms of spatial transformation in teahouses.First,heritage specimenization,which reinforces the continuity of collective memory through symbolic extraction but risks diminishing the vitality of everyday social interactions.Second,consumption upgrading,which caters to the demands of emerging groups through iterative business models yet necessitates vigilance against spatial differentiation eroding marketplace inclusivity.Third,digital parasitism,which expands communicative dimensions through technological empowerment but confronts the risk of flattening localized knowledge.These paradigms reflect both adaptive responses of traditional spaces to contemporary pressure and the tension of reconstruction imposed by instrumental rationality on marketplace networks.The study demonstrates that spatial transformation in Chengdu teahouses is not unidirectional alienation but rather a multifaceted configuration where the continuity of tradition coexists with innovative practices amid functional diversification.This research advocates for striking a balance between the preservation of traditional spaces and modern renewal and explores organic integration approaches for traditional and modern elements,thereby providing a theoretical framework and practical insights for the transformation of traditional public spaces.

  • Research on the Inheritance and Development of Children's Sports Games in Southwestern China From the Perspective of the Production of Space Theory

    Huang Shanying;Zhu Yakun;Cheng Guangxin;Chongqing Preschool Education College;Southwest University;

    Children's sports games in southwestern China have a unique regional cultural foundation and carry the historical memories, values, and lifestyles of the local ethnic groups. However, due to rapid social development, the social spaces in southwestern China have undergone profound changes, which have significantly impacted the inheritance of children's sports games in this region. This study employs research methods such as literature review and logical analysis, based on the production of space theory, to delve into the evolution and origins of the inheritance space of the children's sports games in southwestern China and to explore pathways for their inheritance and development. Research shows that the evolution of the socio-cultural space has led to changes in the primitive customs of southwestern China; the evolution of the socio-economic space has caused the evolution of traditional production methods. This suggests that modern sports games should be reorganized and harmonized to drive openness in the production of cultural space; stress should be laid on improving safeguards for the cultural inheritance policies to facilitate institutionalization in the production of cultural space; the focus should be placed on the integration of digital technology into the culture to promote innovation in the production of cultural space; and the industrial development of traditional culture should be enhanced to achieve a comprehensive approach to the production of cultural space as well as to promote the expansion of research perspectives and paradigms in regard to China's traditional cultural spaces.

  • The Real Challenges and Pathways for New Quality Productive Forces Empowering High-Quality Agricultural Modernization

    Zhao Limei;Chen Chen;Sichuan Academy of Social Sciences;

    Driven by technological innovation and the innovative allocation of production factors, new quality productive forces(NQPFs) are a key breakthrough and core element propelling China's transition from a major agricultural country to an advanced agricultural nation. At its core, agricultural modernization represents a frontier shift in agricultural development—a dynamic evolution of productive forces across technological forms, farmer demographics, industrial structures, and urbanrural relations. NQPFs drive the high-quality, integrated development of agricultural modernization through agricultural technological innovation, green and low-carbon practices, and the enhancement of all production factors. As NQPFs evolve and agricultural modernization advances, we must address constraints stemming from gaps in technology, models, resources, and talent. Furthermore, we must foster deep integration among industry, research, and education to develop new pathways for industrial upgrading, promote green and efficient agricultural development, and bridge existing technological gaps. These collective efforts are crucial for accelerating the high-quality development of agricultural modernization.

  • Mechanisms and Pathways for the Cultural Tourism Industry to Empower Integrated Urban-Rural Development in the Digital Era

    Zhou Jin;Cao Yang;Li Han;Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology;Sichuan University;

    Integrated urban-rural development is a crucial stage in the development of China's urban-rural relations and is essential for Chinese modernization. In the digital era, the cultural tourism industry has the potential to promote integrated urban-rural development through multidimensional integration mechanisms, including cultural exchanges, resource sharing, and industrial linkages. Specifically, by innovating cultural tourism development models, the efficiency of labor allocation between urban and rural areas can be improved, fostering the transformation of rural cultural tourism and its related industries. By expanding the cultural tourism scenarios, new spaces for rural cultural consumption can be constructed, which would help to reduce urban and rural consumption disparities. By establishing cultural tourism development platforms and facilitating the sharing of data elements, the coordinated development of urban and rural public cultural services can be promoted, which would reduce the service gaps between urban and rural areas. By leveraging smart city construction to drive the development of the rural digital infrastructure, integrated urban-rural development, guided by a “digital+” approach, can then be fostered and help to reduce urban and rural development gaps. Building on this foundation, the digital transformation of cultural tourism will advance industrial linkages, resource sharing, factor mobility, and spatial co-creation within urban and rural cultural tourism, gradually realizing integrated urban-rural development and ultimately driving rural revitalization and fostering common prosperity.

  • Artificial Intelligence and Innovation in Manufacturing Enterprises: Theoretical Framework and Empirical Testing

    Ning Nan;Hui Ning;Northwest University;

    This study empirically examines the impact, mechanisms, and heterogeneity of artificial intelligence(AI) on innovation in manufacturing enterprises, using data from Chinese A-share listed companies(2011–2022). Using fixed-effects models and mediation analysis, we find that AI significantly drives innovation in manufacturing, a conclusion supported by various robustness checks. The development of AI enables manufacturing enterprises to achieve cost savings and workforce upgrading. Mechanism analysis identifies two key channels through which AI fosters innovation: increasing talent compensation and widening wage disparities. Heterogeneity tests reveal stronger innovation effects in non-state-owned enterprises, firms in the mature and declining stages, industries with lower concentration, and enterprises located in central and eastern China. Further analysis shows that AI's impact on substantive innovation is non-linear and moderated by technological intensity and economic uncertainty. Based on these findings, we propose policy recommendations, including the steadfast promotion of intelligent transformation, stage-differentiated implementation, enhanced talent cultivation and policy support, and the accelerated realization of AI's innovation potential.

  • An Empirical Study of the Impact of Digital Literacy and its Mechanisms of Influence on the Levels of Depressive Symptoms of Older Adults

    Li Qiang;Li Cong;Henan University;

    This study examines the impact of digital literacy on the levels of depressive symptoms of older adults, utilizing data from the 2022 China Family Panel Studies(CFPS). Factor analysis was used to construct digital literacy indicators, and OLS multiple linear regression modeling was carried out; the results demonstrate that digital literacy exerts a significant negative influence on depressive symptoms in older adults(β =-0.5385, p < 0.01), and the findings are robust. Mechanism analysis reveals that digital literacy reduces depressive symptoms by enhancing future confidence(the mediation effect accounts for 18.0%). Heterogeneity analysis also indicates that there are more pronounced depressive symptoms-alleviating effects among male, married, and younger-old adults(aged 60–79)(p < 0.01). Policy recommendations include implementing tiered digital literacy education programs with targeted support for vulnerable groups, enriching digital education resources through dedicated digital service platforms for the elderly, and strengthening psychological interventions to boost future confidence for effective depressive symptoms mitigation.

  • Institutional Construction of Directors' Climate Legal Responsibility Under the “Dual Carbon” Goals: From the Perspective of Climate Risks

    Wei Qingpo;Capital University of Economics and Business;

    Enterprises are the primary entities responsible for the multi-governance of climate risks. Nevertheless, the obligations and duty performance systems for directors, as outlined in the new Company Law of the People's Republic of China(the new Company Law), fall short of adequately addressing the internal demands necessary for effectively managing climate risks. Therefore, it is essential to enhance these systems by incorporating specific duties for directors related to climate issues. The accountability of directors for a company's liability regarding damages caused by climate change is rooted in the evolving purpose of China's Company Law, the directors' duty of diligence, and the practical demand for emission reduction. Pursuant to the directors' duties set forth by the Company Law, directors' climate responsibilities mainly include two aspects: diligence and loyalty. Diligence primarily involves the total or partial failure to consider and manage foreseeable significant climate risks. Loyalty pertains to the intentional neglect of significant climate-related risks or to decisionmaking that does not align with the principle of maximizing the company's interests. To enforce directors' climate responsibilities, it is necessary to introduce provisions within the Company Law that address directors' duties to control climate risks and establish appropriate compensatory measures. Furthermore, developing evidence standards for directors' liability and overcoming the limitations associated with the objects of directors' fiduciary duties is crucial. In light of the “dual carbon” goals and the foreseeability of significant financial risks posed by climate change, directors are obliged to integrate climate change considerations into corporate strategy, supervision, and disclosure, thereby contributing to the restructure of the regulatory framework governing directors' responsibilities towards green and low-carbon transformation.

  • Unlocking Potential: A Field Experiment Assessing the Impact of Industry–University–Research Collaboration Teaching on Student Academic Performance and Satisfaction

    Guo Lin;Yang Li;Shandong Second Medical University;

    Amid the deepening global higher education reforms, developing innovative teaching models to enhance student academic performance and satisfaction has become a crucial research priority. This study uses a field experiment to evaluate the impact of the industry–university–research collaborative teaching(IURCT) model on students' performance and satisfaction. Comparing the Learning Assessment Score(LAS) and Satisfaction Score(SS) of the IURCT model with those of the traditional teaching methods, the experimental results showed that both LAS and SS were significantly higher for students in the IURCT model, and the effects continued to strengthen over the intervention period. Mechanism tests reveal that the IURCT model enhances the LAS and SS by boosting learning motivation, providing personalized support, and offering psychological support. Furthermore, heterogeneity analysis indicates that the IURCT model's vary across gender, region, and academic levels. This study provides empirical support for the application of the IURCT model in education and offers valuable insights for policymakers to optimize teaching models.
